Columbus, OH, September 03, 2004 — Columbus, OH - Hope Street Kids hosted its "Fifth Annual Caroline Pryce Walker Memorial Event" at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on Saturday, August 21, 2004.
Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-OH-15) and Randy Walker founded Hope Street Kids in 1999 after the devastating loss of their nine-year-old daughter, Caroline, to Neuroblastoma. The organization's mission is to eliminate childhood cancer through cutting-edge research, advocacy and education.
Hope Street Kids has awarded its fourth round of grants this summer, with more than $870,000 dedicated to innovative childhood cancer research studies all across the country, including the development of palliative care training for doctors at Columbus Children’s Hospital.
In 2004, the Caroline Pryce Walker Memorial Event raised more than $300,000 in cash and in-kind support and attracted 1,600 guests.
"The event at the zoo is one that is near and dear to my heart," said HSK Co-Founder, Congresswoman Deborah Pryce. "This is a great event for families, for people of all ages who want to have a great time while supporting critical research for childhood cancers."
The Caroline Pryce Walker Memorial Event was presented by Limited Brands. Major sponsors included American Electric Power, Bob Evans, Fluor Corporation, Giant Eagle, National City, The Scotts Company, United Health Group and Worthington Industries.
